    Resolved. French-speaking countries love strikes!

    Mont Sainte Anne Infrastructure Updates

Following yesterday's end to the employee strike at Le Massif, there's more news from north of Quebec City -- after the province shut down MSA for lift inspection failures in mid-December, the much-maligned Resorts of the Canadian Rockies (RCR) is finally planning to invest in uphill transport...

    Project 101: USA Road Trip

He briefly visited both Greek Peak (southern CNY) and Titus Mountain (northern ADKs) yesterday -- arriving at the latter 40 minutes before lift closing after a four-hour drive. I hope that everyone appreciates just how un-Swiss this behavior is -- or maybe it's ultra-Swiss/German and I really...

    Project 101: USA Road Trip

The ongoing could've/should've comments from California suggest that they haven't reached the "acceptance" phase of the grieving process.

    Project 101: USA Road Trip

We'll find out later today if he backtracks west to Kissing Bridge. Also, let's see how extensive his research efforts are when he arrives in CNY -- according to its website, East Hill (100-ish verts), a ten-minute walk from my childhood home, is still open with rope tow access/conditions...

    Project 101: USA Road Trip

You'll note that I posted "scoring nice conditions" and not "powder skiing," because yes, they're too flat/short for anything over six inches. At least Chris admits what's behind his rage: :icon-lol:

    Western North America Conditions 2025/26

The trip is to visit my ailing mother. Any skiing (likely dates have been adjusted to Feb 1-3) will be incidental. Hopefully there'll be a slight market correction by then so I won't need to get my edges sharpened in Denver beforehand.

    Project 101: USA Road Trip

He's in western NY: Peek 'n Peak and Holiday Valley yesterday. I assume that Holimont, Swain, and Bristol are next (he appears to have passed on Kissing Bridge?) followed by Central NY: Greek Peak, Cazenovia, Skaneateles, Song, and Labrador.

Hitparade (board admin of Alpinfans) pulled off a mini-Project101 in Valais with his Magic Pass today -- Les Marécottes, Ovronnaz, and Anzère -- so you can see what the current conditions are.

    Northeastern U.S. Weather & Conditions

I grew up in a suburb of Syracuse, delivering newspapers in the dark at 5 am in chest-deep drifts and then going home and shoveling them. That's snow-belt street cred. :eusa-naughty:

    Telegraph Ski Travel Articles

What a surprise: an older writer from England (Dave Watts, of the Where To Ski And Snowboard book series) votes for Courchevel, a resort that many have noted feels like a British colonial outpost. At the bottom of the articles are "where to stay" plugs for London ski-holiday operators -- the...

    Le Massif Strike

By U.S. standards, it's at least middle class but as I recall, yes, a large percentage of the economy is at least tourism-adjacent. Daniel Gauthier -- who made his fortune with Cirque du Soleil and purchased the struggling ski area 20+ years ago -- still owns Le Massif and as far as I know is...

    Le Massif Strike

Could this be a hardball negotiating ploy or is a season cancellation like toothpaste and can't be put back in the proverbial tube? In case you forgot what the stunning views from this ski area look like, here's my March 2010 report, the last one posted on FTO! 🤠

    Project 101: USA Road Trip

Within the parameters of Project 101's action plan, for the past several days he's been running up his count of molehill ski areas AND scoring nice conditions at each brief stop: Boyne Mountain, Otsego Resort, and Schuss Mountain.

    Northeastern U.S. Weather & Conditions

I could've sworn that we discussed this recently but I can't find the post. As I recall, the consensus of local bean counters was that despite the distance from Lake Ontario; yes, Plattekill gets LE to an extent.

Midnight Oil and Other Oz Music

Very sad, I had no idea that he was ill. I remember when I first saw their videos in the early 80s. Of course, everyone was mesmerised by Garrett's Frankenstein-on-speed dance moves; however, I (a closet drummer) took note of Rob's excellent bashing behind the kit as shown in this clip at age 26:
