2/21 Stowe Backcountry (lots of images)

Great report! Fun to see some action in the backcountry... However, i have a short technical question: Why don't you include the picture in your post? Why do you put a URL in there instead of the actual pic with the IMG tag? Cause it makes it pretty hard to follow the text and pics at the same...

Jay Peak: 1.5-2 Hours wait at customs! (8AM)

Got a call from Jay this morning... At 8AM there was at least 1.5H wait to cross the border! Customs are just ridiculous! Jay will loose money in the end... That's for sure! Before it was the speed traps and now it's the customs... Jay Peak does not know how to make people feel welcome when...

    Sugarloaf 02/15/2007

Hey man! Why did you ask about Vermont if you end up in Maine??? Just kidding! Hope you had a blast! I've never been to Sugarloaf... What's the distance there from Montreal? How long of a drive? 2 hours from Sherbrooke isn't so bad... Did you go out for more today?

    Where I should go

I just called my parents up at Jay... apparently, it's still blowing hard right now... Probably going to be the same as today... Jet and Bonnie... My opinion, if it still snows tomorrow at Jay, expect the Flyer and Tram to be on hold... If it's sunny or just overcast, everything should be...

    Where I should go

I would head out to: -Sutton: It might be very windy tomorrow... Sutton keeps it's snow pretty well.... -Stowe: expensive but... Might be swepped... or over-crowded... you never know... -Sugarbush could be a safe bet... -Smuggler's Notch is pretty closed by... but i've never been in winter...

Jay Peak: Jan 27th -- End of season ;(

We went up to Jay today even tough it didn't snow much this week... Like River said, all lifts had problems at some point of the day... Jay needs to take care of that... At one point, ALL lifts were down... We were in the freezer and the chair stopped... We looked and could see the Tram bouncing...

Nah... Sorry, that's not something i do... Even tough it's sometimes very tempting... @Patrick, JimG: Well, everyone in the group had prior BC experience. 2 of them were just coming back from a 10 day trip in the Kootenay's... Everyone had the proper skills. But hey, i was just "Keepin the stoke"!

I'll be riding in the backcountry around Jay Peak this weekend... But if the winds are pretty strong, we might try something else... No matter what, it's snowing a bit in Montreal right now... I hope it will snow a lot at Jay... 6 in for tomorrrow morning could be even better!

Jay snowfall discussion: wind, upslope relative to others...

I was going to say it was the instructor trail... But that trail wasn't all the way were the Can-Am is now... It was more where deliverance now is... When you use to get to the top of the bonny quad, there was a small clearing that you could see as you reach the top. The trail use to get you...
