Seeing xPropaganda. Voices are so important on that iconic album. A secret wish is somewhere on my collection which would be a very diverse desert island discs selection. Noticed last Winter that Susanne Freytag and Claudia Brucken were getting together for 5 shows this December and was already...

    Patrick's Streak, Ski Travel Priorities

All kidding aside, I’m more tempted to ski in places like Greece, South Africa, Lebanon than various indoor areas. Landgraaf which I just skied claim to be the largest indoor ski area in Europe which is also the largest in the Netherlands (13th country skied). It’s all about variety. We landed...

Of course, I’m also somewhat trolling, but trying to balance my fairly new career goals in the industry versus skiing leisure goals. One thing for certain is that without ski coaching, it would only be selfish pleasure. I was asked to coach before I was an ex-racer who has a passion for the...

Last season’s coaching salary was enough to cover both Sweden/Norway and New Zealand trips plus getting ski industry perks. I understand the aged out feeling all too well, but I also like to reach other goals. I know, that’s why I mentioned it. ;)

Yes, visiting my wife’s family with the kids when we could all take time off and leave for 3-5 weeks. 2011: skied all open glaciers, but 1 in the August time frame. Tignes, 2 Alpes, Zermatt, Saas Fee, Stelvio, Hintertux 2015 with my oldest: skipped the ones in France and Stelvio. Added the one i...

    Introducing Mountain Rider's Alliance

I believe he was running a pizza place at June Lake. Seems to be travelling/skiing quite often to Italy.

    Oz/NZ 2025

I haven’t checked since I left NZ 2.5 weeks ago, but snow conditions at the time were definitely better in Australia than NZ’s North Island. Combo: harder to do a Hotham/Buller combo. Thredbo/Perisher are basically next door from each other.

There is also a road that lead to the top of Mt. Mégantic where there is an observatory on the summit. The travel time from Ottawa /Montreal to Killington and Sunday River are approximately the same. 5hrs from Ottawa, 3hrs from Montreal.

Whiteface is the closest place from home, it takes me about 3hrs (250km) to get to. It also has a webcam and weather station at the mountain. Jay, Megantic, Stowe or Massif are definitely good place to go, but sometimes the snow doesn't last long or is a total dud. A few guys found out the hard...

    2024-25 Season Recap

Yep. It was a one or the other, although I was relatively close to both in 2016.

    Oz/NZ 2025

Definitely a different vibe in Melbourne. There is also the Great Ocean Drive (?) driving away from the mountains and along the southern coast west. Spent one day driving west instead of towards the mountain. There are a bunch of things to see on the North Island, unfortunately I only saw...

Yes, closure is on Columbus Day. Last year the road had closed the previous day. The gate is down, but only an obstacle for vehicules. Definitely not alone as I've seen skinners, hikers, cross-country and bikers. With the exception of one year, snow made it down to the gate. HurrIcane was...

    2024-25 Season Recap

Not really, it was just the weather at that time. I skied 7 days at 7 areas on 2 island in a span of 17 days. I think I spent 3-4 nights in Nothing was planned, but weather forced me to go other activities. I drove up to Coronet to check it out on a closed day on y way to Wanaka My timing was...

If you look above, you’ll see all my October days for the last 20 years. At the start of the streak, Sunday River were more consistent than Killington in spinning lifts in October. My New Jersey mall experiences have been limited to July 2022 (I had gotten Covid early in that month when there...

I'm currently uploading a gazillions pics from NZ. I posted something on FB/IG. I'll fetch the links. About the Dark Sky Reserve, I noticed a few weeks ago that there were signs (Mt John observatory?) near Mt Cook NZ.

Didn't see really myself traveling for October 2023; the doc said that I shouldn't ski for 6 months after that Mammoth dislocation, ligaments and micro fractures on a Mammoth Memorial day to remember for all the wrong reasons.

Saas-Fee is a great place for summer turns. ;) Been there twice (2011 and 2015), who knows where October will be? I believe that October and May are the 2 months I've never been in Europe. All single Octobers days have been done on a same day return trip from home, the only exception has been...
