    Sunshine Village, 2/6/08

That's certainly been my experience, limited though it is. I've skied it perhaps a half dozen times in since 2000 (twice in 2005) and it really seems to come into it's own in late March. I was there early April one year and it was some of the best on-piste snow I've seen -- just luck weather I'm...

    Kicking Horse, 2/1/08

So where is this Blue Heaven chair? Is that Stairway to Heaven on the far right of the resort? Or have they added a new chair? I remember doing laps off of Heaven and dropping into Fuez. As I got better at the bumps (I was a newb) I simply dropped into run off the cat track higher and higher up...

    Me and the kid, Decemberish...

That's my thinking too. The ski school area over on Whistler didn't look too bad for her level, but my concern there is that it's right in the fog belt and if it's wet, that's WHERE it's wet. Nothin' like picking up a wet kid at 12:30 and still wanting to ski... But it seems all of this has...

    winter is officially here

I missed the first blast in late November last year, but got just as lucky mid-December as part of the same series of fronts. Only one "bad" day the whole week, and it was still better than most of the skiing I'd seen in the last few years (just cold and windy, snow was fine). The last two days...

    Me and the kid, Decemberish...

Well I'm just spoiled by last year at Whistler. Back then the dollar was 65 cents US so a Canadian vacation was a no-brainer, and I just happened to have lots of 2006 vacation days left to burn off the one year that they already had 10 feet on the mountain by the end of November! That's...

    Me and the kid, Decemberish...

If I can convince her, I'm going to try to get my 7 year-old onto something a little larger that Blue Mountain (ontario) this year. I was thinking about Big White, I have a friend nearby that would join us that way. Buuuut, looking at that 1.04 exchange rate kinda makes me think I should be...

OT: pictures of cat and/or heliskiing?

Is it the one from 2005? If so it appears the pictures were taken by different people, I'd need to contact each one for "clearance". The picture of the gondola is great (is that the creekside one?) and creekside village too. There's also a nice bowl shot with a lift in the background, and the...

OT: pictures of cat and/or heliskiing?

Sorry, I can't take credit for that! I've worked a little on the Whistler article, and wrote the Revelstoke one (for a hill that's going to be the highest in NA you'd think they'd have a real web presence...) and a few minor edits here and there. I'm mostly an airplane and aircraft engine guy...

OT: pictures of cat and/or heliskiing?

I was wondering if anyone out there has a few good pictures of heli and cat skiing they might be willing to "dontate" to the wikipedia? I'd like to write small articles on both topics, and some picts would really help. Actually there's very few picts for lots of big resorts, so you might want...

    Whistler, BC - Dec 9-10, 2006

Ohhh, I knew there was something I forgot to do... post a post-ski report to LiftLines! Well, one month later... I was out the week after you, 17th though 22nd. I went through the same sort of thing with the snow reports, with the week before reporting massive falls but then getting smaller and...

    Whistler? Inland? SLC?

Yeah I saw this update and immediately booked my tickets! Two feet of snow the night I arrive... sweet! Only booked for four days though, the flight back is always annoying and I didn't feel like doing the Friday-night redeye at my tender age. I'll save SLC for Feb, I'm going to take a couple...

    Whistler? Inland? SLC?

Anyone want to make a guess for next week? Looks like I can get the week off, and I've got the cash, so I'm thinking of doing my first pre-xmas ski trip of recent memory. I see SLC's been dumped, and I have a ball last time I was down, so I'm keeping it on the shortlist. Flights are pretty...

    Calgary area, 3/12 through 3/17

Well basically you can sum it up thus: no snow. I started with two days at Lk. Louise to build up my legs, and it wasn't too bad as long as you stayed off the main runs. There was generally some snow in the trees and bumps, and the poma-served area was all nice crud. I can't really ski crud...

    Calgary area this year?

Excellent, I'll wait for your report! I had actually booked to come out this week, but one thing led to another...

    Calgary area this year?

I've been lazy and haven't booked any flights yet, so I was poking around today and was astonished at how much they've gone up. I flew in and out of SLC for 294 canadian last year, now the cheapest I can find is well over 800 bux, a month out! I can get cheaper stuff into Calgary and Van. I...

Fantastic! Now I just need to get in touch with a friend in Van and see if I can bum a ride up. They have busses right from the airport now though, right? Maury

    Sunshine or Fernie for Feb12-17

Sunshine's on-hill are extremely limited and I simply wouldn't recommend that route at all. There's practically nothing to do on-hill either, no real resteraunts, entertainment etc. Remember, the lodge is at the top of the hill! The really good news is it's only a 15 minute drive from Banff...

    whistler - 060112

I'm thinking of coming out next week or the one after. This is my first trip to Whistler, and I'm wondering what sort of lineups I should expect. I understand they have a lot of uphill capacity, but they also have a lot of skiiers. What was the traffic like when you were there? Maury

First timer questions for Salt Lake City area skiing

I did my first trip out last year and will be returning ASAP. I sayed el-cheapo at the 15/215 intersection last year, but I'll be blowing a few more bucks this time and trying to find a place a little nicer. The drive was no problem BTW, it took about 25 minutes to get to Solitude even in "rush...
