    International Medical Insurance

I've done some searching but didn't find what I wanted... I'm a US citizen on Medicare and will be traveling to Canada. What are you folks in a similar situation doing for international medical insurance? Provider? Cost? Benefits?

    US Car Hire

$1500 for 4 weeks? Even though some others found somewhat better deals, that's still a great price. A few years ago (well before the pandemic) friends came up with rates on the order of $1500 per week.

More Telluride Mismanagement: Chair 9 Replacement delayed to late January

Could it be supply chain issues? That was the delay at Alta on the new Sunnyside 6-pack.

Mayflower Resort, UT + LCC Gondola

Two things that posts have touched on... 1. Snowsheds -my understanding is that even with the gondola they are included. 2. Avi paths - it will be pretty easy to engineer it so that no towers are in any path. 3. Incentives - yes, locals are the majority of the impact. A huge part of that is...

    Bejing Winter Games Aesthetics

The speed events at Snowbasin during the 2002 SLC Olympics were on mostly manufactured snow (hence the slight orange tint from the rock strata in the wells) plus natural. As I learned from a course worker, even with that, water was injected to bring the water content of the "snow" to 70%.

I find the maps totally unreadable. They need to be converted from small jpg to a scalable format. You also cannot click from the region listing page - a big usability issue. Another issue is being unable to move the map around with the mouse after zooming in or to reorient compass direction.

Alta, UT opening weekend - 11/25-28/2021

Alta's web site has been improved the past couple of years and gives a much more accurate picture. The only caveat is that open/closed lifts include operating hours. IOW, after 4:30, all lifts show as closed. https://www.alta.com/lift-terrain-status

    The Future of FTO

How many active users are there? Almost a dozen? What about unique visitors per month? IOW, is it worth the (or any) effort?

2021-22 Season Plans & Delta Variant

I grew up in New Jersey about 20 minutes south of EWR. The attitude then outside of NYC was “what’s a train?”

The travel restrictions are for tourism/non-essential travel. And the countries in Africa aren't European.

So what do the few remaining posters here think? Time to transfer to a new owner or just simply pull the plug? It's only a matter of time.

Not all areas allow just buffs and others make specific mention regarding buffs: Alta: "Please note that skiers are encouraged to fold over or double up buffs." Solitude: "All visitors, residents, and staff are required to wear an appropriate face-covering properly fitted over the nose and...

Thanks to Covid concerns, being newly semi-retired, and the traffic $hitshow on weekends - esp powder day Saturdays - I've stopped skiing on weekends in the Cottonwoods. Kinda wish now that I had purchased a mid-week pass - would have saved ~$200.

NASJA Zoom meeting re: winter ops during pandemic

The last time the Utah daily positivity rate was below 20% was late October 2020. A claim of a 7-day rolling average of 15%-20% over the past two months is incorrect. https://coronavirus.utah.gov/scoreboard/
