Mammoth, It's Spring on November 15-16.

I was up at Mammoth this weekend too - your report is dead on.

It's that time of the year to start dreaming - opinions

I was in Las Lenas summer. Sick. If you're going for difficult, expert skiing, that's the place to be. Think 5ft+ of powder, endless backcountry, bluebird day with continuous steeps. You do need a beacon, probe, and shovel and to meet up with some people there that also have this gear and KNOW...

    Stowe conditions--any input

Was at Stowe Jan 25, 26, and 27. Thurs and Fri were good packed powder no lift lines conditions, a wee bit cold (especially Fri with the -20 F / -41 F Windshield summit highs but good. Saturday was incredible. They opened up nosedive/bypass glades and goat glades. Hadn't been opened for a while...

    Las Lenas Backcountry

I think I posted a report on here not sure, but I ended up getting 4.5 days on Marte. Those were the best ski days of my life...

How many times do you ski/board in an average year?

I got 45 days in (14 of them this summer) this season.

    Las Lenas 8/5/2006 - 8/19/2006

Just got back from las lenas. Epic. 5 Days of Marte in 2 weeks. The day I got there was a storm day, with pretty much just the front pomas open. A bit dissapointing. I wake up the next morning to a perfect blue bird day. Waist deep powder, sunny, and no wind. The first half of the day I...

    Las Lenas Backcountry

Unfortunetly I had to move the trip up a couple weeks because of getting wisdom teeth pulled. I'm leaving August 4, and getting back on the 20th (and my wisdom teeth get pulled on the 21st....). Will go for the cat and for hiking, and well as crossing my fingers on marte...

    Las Lenas Backcountry

Good idea, will look into cats. They're pretty cheap right? From what I've read Las Lenas is pretty much all about knowing the right people. Hopefully I'll be able to figure out who is actually in charge of the cats and booking rides up in them (or just hopping on).

    Las Lenas Backcountry

I've been monitoring TGR every day now for the past 2 weeks this is the new thread http://www.tetongravity.com/forums/show ... 668&page=2 Marte still isn't up and I leave for Las Lenas on Friday! It changed from supposed to be up last week, to now this week, to now closed until further notice...

    Las Lenas 2006

I think I'll be okay and find something that challenges me. I haven't been on a slope that truly challenged me for a couple years. I can ski pretty much every mountain I've been on in the southeast (Wintergreen, Whitetail, Liberty, WISP etc) backwards, and when I've been to Stowe and Tremblant...

    Las Lenas 2006

I'll be skiing with a guide and a group of atleast 5-10 at all times. The first few days we'll have tons of avalanche training etc, and the guide I'm going with is pretty strict about assessing avalanche danger and only going out when it's extremerly low etc. Thanks for the warning, and yes I...

    Las Lenas 2006

I was going to bring my Line Chronics, here are the specs: Dims: Tip 110 Dims: Waist 80 Dims: Tail 103 These are full twins, but by no means squishy park skis. Keep in mind, I'm only 130lbs but these things can definitely carve and hold an edge. I know the dates I was going were the sweet...

    Las Lenas 2006

Never been out west or to alps. Best places I've skied: Tremblant and Stowe. I can't wait for more than 5 minute runs and real snow! Also I figure it makes alot more sense for me to ski in summer rather than winter because of school. With winter, to get anywhere out of the mid-atlantic I'm...

    Las Lenas 2006

I'm thinking about going to Las Lenas this summer from Aug. 18 - Sept. 2 with South America Snow Sessions. What do you guys think about this? Also, what do you think about the price (am I getting ripped off) - $2700 for both weeks, incld. lodging, coaches, food (3 meals a day), lift tickets...

    Stowe vs. Sugarbush

I wish I had the felixibility, but pretty much everything has to be paid for almost a month in advance, and the bus company is given the itinerary about 2 months in advance - we incur a pretty hefty fee for changes. So pretty much we have to guess on conditions and hope for the best. While...

    Ski goggles

I just picked up some Oakley Widsom Goggles Satin Silver w/ Fire Lens for $60. I'm not a big one for brands/looks - more for funtion, but at that price I couldn't resist.

When Should Eastern Skiers Go West?

I'll agree except for a couple cases: 1. When you're still in high school and not yet a second semester senior (next year...) - you really don't have any scheduling flexibility/midweek breaks to take off. 2. Group trips. When looking at out west vs. vermont for our ski club trips, a bus...

    Stowe vs. Sugarbush

Thanks so much for all the help. We're pretty much set on Stowe for Thurs. and Fri., and still deciding on Stowe (10 minutes from where we're staying) or Sugarbush (about an hour from where we're staying) for Sat. mostly because of crowds and variety. I know some have chimed in about this, but...

    Stowe vs. Sugarbush

Oops one thing I didn't say was the lodging has both a lodge at Stowe and a Lodge at Sugarbush, so that's why those are the two main options. The thing about driving an extra hour is, when you've driven 10, whats 11 :) In out meetings we've talked about the drive through the night for 2 days...
