    Las Lenas 8/5/2006 - 8/19/2006

Just got back from las lenas. Epic. 5 Days of Marte in 2 weeks. The day I got there was a storm day, with pretty much just the front pomas open. A bit dissapointing. I wake up the next morning to a perfect blue bird day. Waist deep powder, sunny, and no wind. The first half of the day I...

    Las Lenas 2006

I'm thinking about going to Las Lenas this summer from Aug. 18 - Sept. 2 with South America Snow Sessions. What do you guys think about this? Also, what do you think about the price (am I getting ripped off) - $2700 for both weeks, incld. lodging, coaches, food (3 meals a day), lift tickets...

    Stowe vs. Sugarbush

My high school ski club is already planning our big trip for next year. We're pretty much set on using this hostel http://www.roundhearth.com/, because of good recommendations, ease, and pricing. Now we need to decide - Stowe vs. Sugarbush. We'll get 3 days of skiing (2 midweek) because we...

    Wintergreen VA 2/11-13

Wintergreen was the best I've ever skied it (and I'm there almost every weekend). After the big january warm up they've been making snow non-stop for the past 4 days (haven't gotten above freezing) and everything but lowercliffhanger and half of turkey shoot was open. On Saturday about 5-6...

    upper body

To give some background about my skiing - I've been skiing for 7ish years, starting to get serious about it last season (12 days) and really serious about it this season with 16 days so far... going for 30 (teaching adaptive had made these the 16 cheapest days I've ever skiied). I started...

    Whitetail PA 1/7/06

Just came back from a day trip to whitetail. The green was a tad icy, the blues were fun with heavy manmade "powder" and some bumps developing later in the day. The blacks - bold decision was defenitly the best snow on the mountain with very few ice spots early in the day and slightly lighter...

    Wintergreen VA 11/26-27

Early Sat morning, conditions started out great. Nice and cold weather made for some good fluffy man made snow. They only had one slope open (green - upper/lower dobie), not sure why they didn't open eagle, but starting this early this far south was a blast. They had nice mounds even after...

starting a ski club at school next year - suggestions

So my school has these club periods twice a week called 8th period at the end of the day. Attendance is mandatory but its fun and easy to skip but most people go... you get the idea. Anyways I got the go ahead to start a ski and snowboard club next year. The deal is we can talk about skiing...

    line chronics

I'm an advanced skier. I can pretty much carve everything, and handle most slopes on the east. Well after a season of using K2 Escape 5500s (they were $80 with bindings on ebay, I don't really feel bad about only getting one season out of them). I'm thinking about getting line chronics. The...

    next year - in april

I was with some freinds skiing in va this weekend, and although we've all been skiing for 5+ years, we've never been out west. We decided we would go next spring break. I just checked our schools website, and our break is April 8-16 (were planning 5 days skiing, 2 days getting there and back...

    Wintergreen, VA 2/19/05-2/20/05

As far as conditions at wintergreen go, pretty good! The first day there was very minimal ice, and since I was skiing with a freind that has a house their, we had a card to skip the liftlines, however by mid day they did get a bit long. The first day there were also alotta nice "bumps" to...

    rust

I just noticed the edges on my skis are just barely starting to rust. Other than that the skis show pretty much no wear, a few small scatched in the bases, but nothing that noticably affects performance. Anyways, is this anything to worry about, or is their anything I can do to fix it?

    Whitetail, PA: 1/16/05

Just got back from a day trip to whitetail. The conditions were surprisingly good given they've only had a couple days of snowmaking to start from scratch. All the greens were open (didn't go on any of them), a few blues, and one black. The blues and black were really nice and bumpy by 11ish...

    180 on skis?

In the south east, when nothing difficult is open the terrain park is, and I've learned to really enjoy air :) I was wondering how you would to a 180 off a jump. First, I don't have twin tips, however my skis to have minitips in the back and are fine for skiing backwards, so is this possible...

    staying warm

I'm going skiing in Mt. Tremblant this year at the end of january. The furthest north I've been skiing is in pennsylvania. I hear it can get pretty cold. What do you need to stay warm. I currently have, gore-tex shell, gore-tex pants (lined), gore-tex gloves, long underwear, and a sweatshirt...

    boot question

Okay, so I got skis off ebay and the guy had some extra boots he through in for free. The boots are Solomon Performa 6.0 and they have the heat moldable linings. I looked them up and they're not that bad (intermediates). I was originally looking at and planning to get Nordica Beast 10s (right...

best ski resort within 5 hours of washington dc

What do you guys think is the best ski resort within 5 hours of washington dc? My criteria is good slopes (realitvly difficult) and smallish lift lines. Something relativly inexpensive would be good too, as I'm going to be skiing every second I get so I don't really care that much about...

good intermmediate all mountains - any suggestions?

I'm 5' 7, 16, and 130 lbs. I went to the local ski shop which recommended k2 escape 5500 and volkl energy 380. I'm looking for something that will mostly be used on the east coast, but won't kill my dreams of getting out west sometime within the next few years. Also I'm looking for something...
