I skied Eldora for the first time yesterday and had a great time. We were kind of lost at first and was just skiing thru the Woodward Parks. Finally got my wife to try Challenge and she did fine. Then my friend Brent the GM got out and took us all over the mountain on Corona side which was...

    Why CNL can't sell resorts

They big problem to try and sell is if you buy you don't get to be the operator, just the landlord collecting a rent check hopefully. Doesn't necessarily mean a good ROI.

    Snow Summit, Dec. 30, 2015

Thinking about Mt. High and the lack of snowmaking, I was looking at the CNL Lifestyle website and financial reports are on it. They are losing big money on their ski resorts and the drought and especially Mt. High have been a big reason. My thought is it is them pulling the plug on snowmaking...

    Mt Ashland 2/01/16

I interviewed for Food & Beverage Manager there quite a few years ago. Looking at these pictures I wish I had got it. They flew me in, put me up in hotel for weekend and took care of me. Thought the job was mine with the treatment, but lost out. Oh Well!

Big Bear, CA, Dec. 24, 2015

One has to think that Mt. High is having water issues. With as cold as its been to have very little open and not even trying to get East open for the holiday season where the money is. I think East is a natural snow only resort now.

Interesting Articles on "Forgotten" Mt. Waterman

There were many season we closed down operations and opened for sightseers for $10 each. If you wanted to bring your skis and find a line(which you could) we were ok with that. I set up a BBQ at the bottom and sold soda and beers out of an ice chest.

Advice requested - move to Jackson, WY (Somewhat off-topic)

Jackson is quite expensive, if you are on any kind of fixed income with your retirement think about the other side of the pass in Driggs, Id. area. My niece lives in Driggs, but commutes over the hill to Jackson for work...not that far.

Proposed San Gabriel Mountains National Monument

Looks like it is going to happen on Friday. looks like Mt. Baldy was pulled out and Wrightwood Canyon. Wonder how it effects Mt. Waterman/Kratka. President Barack Obama will designate a portion of the San Gabriel Mountains as a national monument on Friday during a ceremony at Bonelli Park in...

    Mammoth Buys Snow Summit/Bear Mt.

I agree with Tome this could put a significant dent in Mt. High's business. Tom lol

    Mammoth Buys Snow Summit/Bear Mt.

Be interesting to see if this puts a world of hurt into Mt. High in the season pass wars. SoCals might lean toward Big Bear now with being able to add Mammoth into your pass for about $300 more.

    Drought? Yeah! Yeah! Yeah!

Many years ago while Terry still had Mt. High I believe they lost several of their producing wells in an earthquake. To get the mountain open and customer base happy they trucked up water from wells in the desert I believe. Did they make money doing this? Probably not, but kept the customers...
