Hey Admin, don't pack away your skis just yet. Last couple of runs of the GFS shows a nice cold storm about a week from now. We could still be skiing at Alta, and by skiing I mean pow skiing! Not too excited about it just yet but keep your eye on it...
Here is a little video from the weekend. Bobby D makes an appearance after making the call of the day... http://www.skiutah.com/winter/blog/authors/matt/another-foot-of-snow-at-snowbird
If you're looking for bigger terrain at Pow Mow, check out the video I put together last month there. http://www.skiutah.com/winter/blog/authors/matt/powder-mountain-steeper-and-deeper
I personally think Park City Mountain Resort did the best with this last storm system. Winds were coming in from the East. Check out what Jupiter Peak looked like. https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.4644978722397.194155.1231002422&type=3
Here is the link to my annual Ski Movie Trailer. Enjoy. Last year wasn't so bad after all...

If this were to happen, that being the pattern change, I swear to God it better not happen while Sundance is going on. Two, 115 Hour work weeks leaves me no time to ski. At this point who gives a shit, I'll just quit my job!
Can't get anything past you, now can we Marc? You are correct the winds were at best 30mph at the summit and calm at the base. We were poking fun at the raging wind storm pummeling north Salt Lake while we were skiing almost two feet of fresh down south. Also you, you're correct again with...
Not a lot but there were honestly only 8 people skiing there Thursday and maybe 50 Friday. Then Friday night they got another 1-2 feet and got some more lifts open.

Also the fact that the 18Z GFS weather model completely lost the Thanksgiving storm isn't good either. Storm doesn't even exist on the latest run, very very surprising.
Just spoke to Connie at Alta, here is what she says about additional terrain opening.
Hey Connie, any word on when you guys expect to open more terrain.
next weekend............or maybe t-day.
I bagged my morning touring plans. Wanted to stay on south facing slopes in order to keep it safe but there just isn't enough snow on those slopes to avoid rocks and snow snakes. Check this video of the snowpack from before the Friday nights storm.

It's just a GoPro camera attached to the end of a ski pole with the help of a handlebar mount for my bike. Just trying to get some different shots, after a while that standard GoPro view can get pretty old and unenjoyable to watch. Hope you enjoyed it.
