No motivation yesterday morning, but we finally left Laval at 10h30 after our incredible trip to the Massif du Sud the day before.

We began to ski at Orford in the fog at noon and as soon as we get on top of the hill, we went directly in the Intrepide, with some powder up to the boots, but with a very hard texture under. It was still amazing to ski this trail in a big powder like that.

We only skied the glades + the Contour all day long and all the places were awesome, except the Giroux Glades where the snow was a little bit too wet. It was still some great skiing of course ;)

We have a ton of photos and 2 videos taken in the legendary "Écureuil" glade, if you want to see them. It's almost only some gladed pics (+ videos)!

pics
http://zoneski.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=1043

videos : (900 and 950ko). Each ones are 20-25 seconds. (you must save on disk... + have Quick time 6.5)

http://www.zoneski.com/temp/orford1.mov
http://www.zoneski.com/temp/orford2.mov

Nice Pictures, at least for your visit it was not -27C like when I was there in January. My brother is trying to convince me to come up and stay by him to ski Mt Tremblant, Mt St Saveaur and Orford again possibly, over easter weekend. It is a bit far for me so I think that we will meet up at Killington, as Sugarloaf is just too far away for 2 days of skiing, even though I would really rather ski there again than in Vermont.

Frank awesome pictures and movies. Wish my weekend had been as fantastic. A short report on Cannon: The morning was nice with vista way being the winner. Lower taft was nice as well, even in the afternoon. By two o'clock the whole mountain was ice. Not just hardpack, glare blue ice. By 2 there were only about 30 people on the mountain with the ice and the 45 mph winds. My brother and I skied till closing enjoying the high speed runs with sharpe edges. Most people hate ice, if you know how to ski it, it can be enjoyable too!!

porter

After such a great weekend, my mind is still lurking somewhere into the woods of the Massif du Sud and Orford.

Guess what, within 24 hours, I took my 5 best trails in ski

Contour
Chevreuil
Cathédrale (#8)
Écureuil
Merveille (#4)

The Merveille is a newbie so high in my top. It was 12th after my first visit in march 2002, but saturday, it was truly A W E S O M E !!!

I was flying in this huge glade with trees well separated. 35 degrees of average steepness on 800' high going at 30+ mph in the soft snow + snow powder. It was totally crazy. My 2 runs into it were some of my best runs ever !
