A video from Sunday at Killington

All of these videos look great. My camera takes video but it is really bad. I'm going to get a better camera this year.

Chris is using a dvd-cam, with 16/9 ratio... but it's really not the kind of camera that I would bring in some extreme trails while skiing ;)

Personnaly, I use a canon A75 with 3.1mpx (should be for you something like 200$ now I guess) and even though you couldn't have a perfect quality on a tv, the quality isn't too bad to watch your scenes on tv ;)

nice one frank! thanks for posting that. i don't need to be fluent in french to understand a word! that type of experience is universal.

regular cameras with video modes are just as bad as camcorders with picture modes. why they try to cross integrate this stuff is beyond me. you want to take pictures, buy a camera. you want to shoot video, but a camcorder. that's just my take on it. the industry loves to add as much stuff as possible, driving the price up, and most of it is junk yet it gets eatten up. like 800x digital zoom on camcorders   seriously though, if you want to shot video just buy a small camcorder and keep your digi-cam unless you are unsatisfied with the picture quality. for posting to the internet, my five year old 2.2 Mp cam still gets the job done and also gets okay 8x10 prints.

Bingo. Today's DV camcorders are small enough to carry around for a day of skiing. The video from Snowbird last Sunday was shot on mini-DV tape. Still cams are no substitute for shooting video. Likewise, despite the fact that my DV camcorder shoots stills to a separate SD card, I'd never use it for any serious stills.

Pity there can't be one device to do everything well, but there isn't...yet.

Hey, that almost sound like a debate about SKIS.

Great video Zgang.

Great video Frank! Really brightened up my day! :D

Steve is absolutely right about the camera, you're really gonna need two if you want to do stills and videos. Though I am amazed how much better the video mode of stills is getting, I took some last spring with my Olympus Stylus 410 that actually came out much better than I thought.
