Alta opened today !!!!!!! wahooooooooo ! <BR> <BR>So we arrived enough late in the morning, cause I was almost sure that the opening hour would be a little bit delayed. Effectively, we arrived at 9h30 and it opened at 10h... as there was about nobody before that ! <BR> <BR>First climb on the chairlift : it stopped.... broken down, electric problem. Oh-f*** We were really too high to jump, but at least, after 30 minutes, they started the 2nd engine (diesel) to let us reach the summit. <BR> <BR>After that, we got some free lift tickets for a next day at the mountain... I hiked twice the mountain before to go lunch and while I was lunching, the chairlift restarted at 12h30. After that, it never stopped until the end of the day. <BR> <BR>Of course, with that stop in the morning, the crowd was zero. May be 75-80 persons in the mountain. <BR> <BR>The St-Sauveur Valley just got some peanuts for snow... even not 2"... but Alta got about 6", cause they're in the snow belt of the Laurentians / Lanaudiere. <BR> <BR>So the conditions were very correct, with some fresh tracks made all day long, but with all the fu**ing r@!n of this week, there was a kind of crust, under the fresh light powder. Where they had groomed before the snow, there was no crust, at least and the powder was very cool. The groomed trails (after the snow) were quite nice, but it wasn't the time to ski them, it was a powder day

I found 2 other spots today, on the mountain (including an AMAZING one). I should count the number of off-official-trails in this mountain. There is way more than the number of official trails, but how much ? easily 25-30-35+. <BR> <BR>It was the 13th time I skied the place in the last 2 years. I thought I'd skied anywhere between any trails. It's so wide that there was still a huge lot of first tracks to do at the end of the day. Nice. <BR> <BR>The nice trails in general today : <BR> <BR>Superspeed : wild and cool <BR>Principale : wild on upper part, nice on the middle, closed on lower (kind of trail which needs a lot of snow) <BR>Olympique : very nice, under the chairlift. No branches, just cool. <BR> <BR>The Slalom was amazing once again ! They will be amazing quite soon, I think !! <BR> <BR>So in general, even with the badluck in the morning, we had a real great time and I'm super eager to be back, cause this mountain really ROCKS.
