Well, while still scary, it's certainly better than that thing you used to wear:

And better than the one we saw you wearing saturday

Cold is relative.

I'll never forget a March day in college (Clinton, NY). It had been well below zero for weeks.

We got a sunny day, it was about 35 above and a bunch of guys were tossing a lacrosse ball in shorts and those cutoff half shirts.

Let me put it succinctly: there were days when I was patrolling at Jay when it never got above -30ºF. I moved out here so I'd never be forced to ski in shit like that anymore. You all can have it.

You know Admin, that is the first step to becoming....a fair weather skier where you go out only on warm and blue bird days. :-"

And your point is??? Suffering in shit doesn't make me a better person, it just makes me more miserable. Why be miserable when I'm on track for 80-100 days this year anyway? There's always tomorrow. I'm not into masochism.

What's wrong with that? Well, I guess I can understand your point if you live where the ski weather has a high percentage of crappy weather days.

One of the coldest days I ever tried to ski in was at my 1 time at jay Peak..my watch froze..my camera froze and broke..we left after 4 solid ice runs..and went to Smuggs..where it was a balmy 5 degrees.....I should have known better when the patroller said to us "(french accent) I'm not going out there".....My all time was -45 below windchill at the top of Hunter...almost didn't make it down.....its why I now spend up to 20 days in Utah each season.....

Not saying that Admin is a fair weather skier, but if you only go out when it's warm and blue bird...well, I know a few spouses that as also very selective on the day they choose to ski. I'd rather ski in a blizzard than choosing not to ski at all and waiting for the next day...cuz I'd be out the next day also.

Right.... The only thing I'm dealing with now is skiing 20 miles away from home on a crappy 600ft vert. Only one crappy weather day on the 12 days I've been out, days that are pre-determined as ski days for my daughter.

I guess it's a price to pay to get a future ripping in the family.

Who said anything about not skiing in a blizzard??? I just prefer to not ski when it's inhumanely effin' cold out there, although with the proper Darth Vader gear on I was out until 2 pm Sunday.

Well, it was implied...only warm / blue bird. It might have the masochism.

Not skiing in a blizzard...

True. It was even longer that on that blue bird powder day at Alta when I was in town. :sabre fight: O:)

I'm just kidding around, just in case some people don't get it. Have a good, continued winter.

It's kinda rare though, but occasionally known to happen. Sometimes he even makes it all the way to 3:30!

In fact, to Admin's credit he only wore that get up for a little bit. He took it off after about 30 minutes and skied well and hard till about 1:00. I was dressed super heavily, so I got pretty warm, but even so, I still got frostnip on my ears when I went speeding down groomers. I can completely understand admin using that funny mask, especially when you consider what Utah brings to the table in terms of normal ski temps.

The only thing I thought was funny was that on the chair lift Admin kept muttering "Luke, I am your father."

I wonder if Admin's mask is the deluxe model that comes equipped with a special "hands-free" electronic cartridge designed to deliver bursts of tobacco smoke every 60 seconds.
