Back to the old wooden planks

Well Well,

Although I can't officially downhill ski till February, the doctor gave me clearance to start Nordic skiing. I was so pumped. I ran home grabbed my skis and went for an hour long ski through the woods with a head lamp. Never felt so liberated. Although I did not ski yesterday I was at McIntyre for a race (small three trailed ski area in southern NH, Manchester). Conditions there would be about the same as Sunapee, Crotched or Ragged. Machine groomed with ice and 2+ inches of fresh wet snow on top of everything.

Porter

A good way to tell if you're ready to ski is if in your weight lifting / bike riding or whatever rehab you're doing how the injured leg compares to the other one. When the injured leg is stronger, you're ready.

When rehabbing after my torn meniscus of Feb. 20, 1995 I made this observation in mid-April. So I took a day at Mt. Baldy April 23 even my next doctor appointment wasn't until May because I didn't want to wait until Memorial Day to ski.
