Beech Mt North Carolina question

Anyone out there been to Beech? I'll be in NC over the Christmas holidays. We skiied Sugar Mt a couple of years ago and found it to be fairly good except it must have the slowest set of lifts in the universe. Of course it was a bit crowded too. Assuming they've made some snow by then, would you recommend it? I'm used to bigger steeper stuff but it it has snow and I'm in the neighborhood.....

I'd recommend Sugar if you are more concerned with terrain. They have blacks comparable to NE. Hopefully some will be open by Christmas. the season is starting off slow after Sugar opened for 2 days, then closed. Sugar is really expensive though, $53 on weekend/holidays. Beech has the only high-speed quad in the northern nc mtns, but the terrain is pretty lame. Plus, their snowmaking isn't as good as Sugar's, so they probably won't have a whole lot of terrain open, especially their blacks. The vertical is about 800 feet. Sugar's is about 1200 feet. I would try Hawksnest if you have an extra day..they have the cheapest prices, plus good terrain.
