Big storm for the East?

Sounds like we may get dumped on pretty good ! Snow forecasted for Mon. Tues. and Wed. in some areas ! Anyone here any more about this ?

The models are starting to converge on a solution. But it is still to early. The big cities could be in line for a decent snow fall . The mountains could also fair pretty well...

Latest model guidance from what I can tell seems to be suggesting that the coast may get enough warm air drawn in to change to ice or rain while inland may actually do the best.

http://www.wxrisk.com is a fantastic weather site that I reguarly read during the winter. The guy runs a private forecasting company for the futures markets, but he is majorly into east coast snow storms.

Accuweather seems to be going in the same direction. Any input powderfreak (I know you're out there somewhere!)?

i thought i was the only one who knew about wxrisk  dt is a freak he writes some of the funniest weather discussions out there.
the 12z did trend a bit further north and is a bit warmer... i need that low to go to 40/70. that way we all get over.. mountains and coastal plain

wow- that guy is thorough as all hell. i was looking at the models last night- don't know much, but here (in Washington DC) the models showed snow to be dubious- or at least questionable.

definitely appeared as though ineterior New England was gonna take a nice hit of snow. from what i saw and that guy at the website you jasoncapecod was talking about, somewhere inland could potentially get creamed.

winter storms, though, are so unpredictable. we'll see what dopplerscott's/powderfreaks microforecast is- he doesn't like to cry wolf- patience is a virtue...

maybe catching a ride to burlington on friday, hit up smuggs or stowe if this storm brings a dump/prolonged upslope later in the week. and now, we pray...

c'mon big dump at cannon! 1-2' would really open up some stuff i have been looking forward to for this season and would probably make next sunday a skinning day for only the second time since the lifts started turning.

looking at the latest models (and just looking at them- i'm no pro met) showing something very very very nice is starting to come together for the greens and the whites...

Will have a column up late tonight...won't get home till 7pm or so but will work on it after that.

Major winter storm is likely and I think New England ski areas will be wide open when all is said and done. Very impressive on all levels of the models yesterday and last night. Heavy snow and high winds.
