In the spirit of the Eastern Molehills and Retro Areas thread -- once or twice a year I get notified about a new comment to my mid-00s article about Bobcat:

A guy posted one yesterday that's pretty funny:

I grew up skiing there in 1970 (at the age of 6) and I got my first dog from the farmer there on Christmas Day, aptly named Noel. So many good times there. We skied with a group of families (season pass holders for 6 years) from where we lived in Woodstock, so there were at least 15 kids in varying ages.
One year at the lumberjack festival we got antsy and hiked up the “bunny slope” directly above the lodge. Halfway up we came upon some old tractor tires, they were huge and required a few of us to stand them up so we could roll them down the slope. One rolled ALL THE WAY DOWN! and smashed through the wooden billboard sign and then descended into the lower parking lot and t-boned a 4-door Mercedes driven by an elderly lady. Thank God she wasn’t injured, just surprised to see a tractor tire coming at her! Needless to say it disrupted the day :icon-wink:.
I think my Dad bought her a new car and paid for the sign damages, etc. I learned what an “umbrella insurance policy” was that day. I think I was in 5th grade at this time. I’ve never forgotten skiing there! After that, we skied Plattekill for years before moving to NH.

Assuming that the umbrella insurance policy covered the damages (a replacement Mercedes?), I'd be interested in learning about the disciplinary measures that were meted out. My family would've made me pay the increased premiums in perpetuity and probably grounded me until I graduated high school!
