Holy cow, what an experience! Like time travel back to 1965. Makes Magic Mountain feel like Deer Valley.

They're still recovering from last weekend's rain/sleet episode, so I didn't even bother going off-trail to mix it up with the three inches of fresh on top of death crust. The day started out with rock-hard, teeth-rattling groomed runs, but by 11:30, the sun had softened up the trails nicely and we were cruising and carving with big smiles on our faces.

I'll post photos Tuesday morning. Stay tuned for my article which'll appear on Snowjournal later this week.

I won't say what you missed this weekend at La Réserve ;)

If you try Alta (as you were supposed to, tomorrow), you'll feel like 1955... and it's Bobcat which will look like Deer Valley ! LOL

I was thinking of going to Bobcat instead of Plattekill, but my skiing buddy wont go to a ski area with only t-bars. I could care if all they had was a slingshot as long as it got me uphill. I skied this place once in March 1995 with 3 feet of powder and it was great, but the main t-bar was hard to ski with the deep snow. I was not sure if they were even still open. Is it worth visiting next weekend? My friend also just came back from 4 days at Solitude in Utah, so skiing at Plattekill for him was like going from caviar to Mc Donalds.

Kevin, it's worth going if the conditions are good. They've got plenty of cover (of course, weeds are poking through on some trails, which doesn't bother me... similar to Magic or Mittersill).

Hopefully they'll pick up some new snow. Riding the t-bar was fine; never broke down once.

As for your ski buddy, if he can't keep it real and go to an all-t-bar joint, go without him. Nothing I like less than people who turn into "west snobs" or "high-speed quad snobs." Puhleeze.

I would much rather give my business to places like Saddleback, burke, Bobcat or Plattekill than the major resorts, because people tend to be nicer
prices are cheaper and I feel more like Im skiing than being a skier visit statistic for the larger resort destinations. My freind just likes chairlifts, but thats his option, I can always go it alone. What was the lift ticket price at Bobcat?
