Burke was actually quite good this weekend.
Saturday saw pretty nice skiing on the groomers and decent skiing on the natural terrain. Some of the natural had become quite scraped off (down to the thin ice base) but fresh shot could still be found if you knew where to look.
Sunday was a pleasent surprise as the 2 inches we were supposed to get turned into 5-6 of soft powder. I was there for the opening of the lift and headed straight for East Bowl. It was sweet as usual for a powder day. the rollers all had nice soft landings. There wasn't quite enough snow for face shots although there were waist shots aplenty. Later in the day I spent a good number of runs on the natural cover trails as they were still primed with good powder stashes here and there. The groomers were getting pretty sratchy by 2:00. There is still not quite enough snow to take deep hard turns in the powder. When that was tried I would just sink through the powder and hit the thin ice base. The glades really need about five more inches to open up. Unfortunately it looks like we are going to thaw again before this happens. One glade, Sasquach, was open at the summit of the mountain which provides a nice softwood glade experience.
