I'm heading to Gore on 2/28 and 3/1. Can anyone comment on the current conditions at Gore Mtn? Especially after the rain and warm temps this past weekend. Thanks.

I'm a pass holder and Gore, and while I have not yet been up there since last weekends rain, I can assure you that they are probably trying to make as much snow as possible to freshen up the surface conditions. With that said, Gore was just starting to come out of a slump it suffered from some sleet/freezing rain a few weeks earlier. I would imagine anything that wasn't groomed since the rain, or couldn't be groomed(glades) are not open. I'm not sure you would want to go down them even if they were open after a rain/freeze situation. Gore and the Adirondacks do not get the natural snow that the Vermont areas get, so it always takes them a little longer to snap out of thaws.

Best bet would be any trail they made snow on after the rain and groomed. You can still have plenty of fun on the upper mountain expert runs when they are groomed, and the lower mountain cruisers can be great thighburners as they drop 1,700 verts from the top of Bear Mtn.

Hope that helps.

Thanks for the information. I skied there on 2/28 and 3/1 and the conditions were quite good (thanks to their grooming). Frozen granular, minimal ice. Beautiful and sunny too.

Very nice improvement with the new topridge triple and new trails. Great new views. I can't wait for them to complete the expansion to the North Creek ski bowl.

This place can really be something special if they keep on the same path of making improvements/expanding. I come from Rochester and was first attracted to Gore because of the relatively short drive (4 hours), but am more and more impressed each year.
