Cannon 1/6

Got to the hill to see light snow falling :D . Snow report said 3-4 new yesterday with another inch overnight.
The new snow had settled to be about 2 inches of fluff on the ungroomed surfaces.
Frist run took me down Ravine T2B. It was ungroomed up top but pretty well skied. I had busted out the Pocket Rockets in hopes of finding some deeper fresh but it just wasnt to be. Lots of irregular sized bumps with the occasional rock lurking just below the surface. Some nice lines were still to be found though . http://forums.alpinezone.com/modules.ph ... _photo.php

Good snow all day but visibility sucked. At times I couldnt see two chair ahead of me. When dismounting the Cannonball chair you literally couldnt see the Tram building http://forums.alpinezone.com/modules.ph ... _photo.php
My favorites for the day were Gary's which was groomed with nice loose snow on the sides that made for dreamy turns. But the best trail of the day was...dont laugh...Parkway, which is a beginner trail  . Actually they had left it ungroomed with a couple inches of untouched fluff all across it. For whatever reason, everyone seemed to be missing this. Everyone but me 8) . I cut that trail up run after run and never saw any tracks on it but mine. I just cranked out some nice fluid powder tuns in neat rows.
Called it a day about 3 and I anticipate some serious pain the next couple of days. Light snow fell all day but only accumulated to an inch or so.
No talk of Bode at the Lift Pub. You'd think he would get lots of support there

In my original post I said I busted out the Pocket Rockets for the first run but I failed to mention I switched back to my Atomics after the first run and I'm glad I did. It just wasnt deep enough for the Blue Noodles.

it's not surprising that bode miller was not getting any support  .. without over simplifying it, and this is JUST MY OPINION, bode is a guy who has all the talent in the world and will not be around for long becasue he is a simp. or as we say where i work, a jed. not a bright man  ... any way you want to phrase it, the guy is a dope. he is the ski worlds version of the nfl's terrell owens. a jackass who is a loose cannon who, if he would just shut up and ski, could be king of the world. the regular sports world already has a hard time taking skiing seriously and skiers seriously as real athletes. even if body was misquoted, taken out of context , whatever, why would he even talk about booze and skiing in the same sentance. it doesn't help legitimize our sport. bode can't have his cake and eat it too, which to me, is what it appears he is trying to do. he ought to just shut the hell up and ski.. his act is getting old and is boring. no one cares about how he grew up in an outhouse and was a free spirit and all that nonsense. and if i hear one more commercial from " bretton woods " talking about the "director of skiing" bode miller and one more person say cannon's own bode miller or sugarloafs own bode miller, i think i'm gonna crack. bode ought to take a page from his buddy daron rahlves.. shut the hell up and ski. do us all a favor please. maybe bode should go ski a bump run or two and jiggle up the brain cells. he'd probably fall after the first 2 bumps though and break his leg

nhph, as you reported, I heard the conditions were good, but visibility bad on Friday. You had the best snow. Saturday was best in-bounds on the trails they were blowing snow on, especially Paulies Extension and Avalanche. My 'blue noodles' were fine on Saturday, after a good stone grind by Aaron at the Cannon ski shop!

Now, now, boys. This FirstTracks forum is a nice place to post because it stays civilized.

Bode a simpleton? I don't think so. I think he's an intelligent guy with a rebellious, hippy streak that...

1) allows him to travel his own path and not be too blinded by flattery, wealth and fame (admirable); and

2) is sometimes a little too knee-jerk, a little without-a-cause, a little contrived. (E.G. "I don't want to win any Olympic medals....")
