Cannon 2/24
I arrived at Cannon/Mittersill Alpine Resort late in the afternoon on the 23rd, tired and sore from skiing Wildcat that day and not so much from skiing Gunstock on the 22nd. I dropped off my gear at the hotel which sits directly at the bottom of the Mittersill slopes. After seeing the vast stretches of virgin snow at the bottom of the mountain, it was all I could do to fight off the powder addiction and skin up for more fresh. My legs were toast from Wildcat B/C that day and I reasoned that if its 5:00pm now then chances are it will be there in the AM. So instead I grabbed a brew at the Peabody Lodge and saw many happy faces, much like mine. After a small investigation and general consensus by the bar staff it was determined that indeed ?Peabody? is properly pronounced as pee-bid-dee, like the city near Boston. Not pee-body, like the character in Rocky and Bullwinkle, Mr. Peabody.
Back to the No-Bull. After some intense Jacuzzi and spa treatments plus a few 12oz curls and my legs felt like they might be back into ski shape!
Overnight we got about half an inch of ultra light. The No Bull for Cannon was that I wouldn?t know except for Taft as that was the only trail I skied on all day if ya know what I mean. I will say the shuttle for overflow parking for Peabody is quite handy!
Another stellar cloudless day with fresh lines every run! My first run I stood on top of the saddle looking over at the tram and Taft, all alone for 20 minutes, just taking it all in and appreciating life in general.
Temps were in the low 20?s with almost no wind and the sky didn?t get milky until well after 2:30 with blazing sunshine throughout the day.
I wish I could give a more detailed report of my adventures but Lftgly may have to put a bounty on my head if I did.
