Keeping tabs on construction at Cannon, here's a shot of the upper bullwheel for the new fixed-grip quad, lieing in the parking lot with other tower fixtures delivered a month ago on 8/16/03

Up date today, 9/20/03, of the towers in place for the new fixed-grip quad. Note the CTEC-Dopplemeyer crew working on re-bar for the foundation of lower bullwheel.

Here's the new ski shop addition on the "old" Peabody Lodge as of today, 9/20/03.

They have built a narrow staircase under the "bridge" next to it, leading from the parking lot to the slopes. Not very good access to the slopes, but exactly the kind of design decision we've learned to expect from a ski area operated by non-skiers. Another skier speculates that they only had mid-week "crowds" in mind.

Oops, there I go bashing the state-owned ski area again, right when I thought my therapist and I were making progress... must have forgotten my meds this morning...

You don't need a therapy... they need a therapy ;)

Thanks for the update. I hope this easy side will allow them to ungroom more terrain this year ;)

Oh no.... another ski area to go this year... the list is way too long now ! I should take the winter off cause if not, it's me who will need a therapy :-p

frank, i think you are damned if you do, damned if you don't. i know i'd be running to a therapist if i didn't ski this winter.

thanks for the update lftgly! CTEC-Dopplemeyer are solid lifts... how many CTEC/Dopplemeyer lifts will that make at cannon now? i think four? i can't remember what the peabody slopes pair of triples are...

the addition looks nice, but not worth a hill of beans practically speaking. you're right about a ski area run by non-skiers! they can't expand the walkway between buildings too much due to the stream that flows under the bridge. that's sure to be a congestion nightmare where there never was before. although given their lack of other options, what else could they do i guess?

i'm trying to envision how it will create much more lodge space (who cares about the rental gear, blah!). i never felt the lodge was too crowded any ways, not like it was needed. oh well, i'm glad they build it cause it's less money they could have invested in another groomer!

Lol don't worry River, I was just laughing. I know me enough to know that I'm gonna ski at least 20 times this winter... probably over 30 even with my beginning crazy job. I wouldn't take the winter off neither ;)

Goin' to Tremblant this mornin'
pics of the new trails this evening !
