holy F, pinch me. is it really only the first week in december?

driving north on the parkway, tracks through the mostly untouched snow could be seen on the front face. you boys had yourselves some fun yesterday even though zoomer triple wasn't turning! i was talking to a ski instructor on one of the lifts, and he mentioned the mountain mangaer was even bagging turns over there yesterday and radioing for a sled for the return trip!

also while chatting with that same instructor, i asked why they haven't opened everything serviced by the peabody HSQ. he had no idea and was just as curious.

suffice to say, cannon got socked with so much snow that everything on the middle and lower mountains was skiable whether it was opened or not. mounds of man made snow everywhere... just sitting there! with fluff stacked up all over it. all they needed to do was take a groomer to the mounds. i don't know what they are doing up there honestly. whatever, the gold was easy enough to find regardless of trail counts.

quickly headed over to the front face where the pow pow was. i opted to start with rocket since it's less steep. knee to waist deep untracked the whole way down staying skiers right to avoid the snow making. i quickly learned that falling down in waist deep is not fun cause the snow finds it's way into your parka AND it takes 10 minutes to get back up.

up zoomer lift and down zoomer. starting to get tracked quickly, but still found knee-waist deep in abundence. got tired and headed up to peabody for a rest.

big link and short link got scraped up after nearly 3 feet of powder!!! seriously, something needs to be done here. maybe a short connceting trail between short link and middle ravine. middle ravine was a DREAM! the groomed stuff got pushed around into small patches of fluff. really nice and fun to ski, started bumping up late. bottom half of the mountain (peabody slopes) were boring run outs, nothing special there.

lower hard seemed faily untouched. probably because it's one of the worst trails on the mountain, imo. but a few worth while turns near the top of lower hard and a face shot! people were hiking to middle hard, and probably even mittersill.

back to the front face by way of middle cannon (closed, but no one was paying attention to the rope). excellent snow and fun playing around the powdery whales. paulie's extension was a dream with occasional untracked and excellent lines everywhere.

zoomer definitely got the most attention, but was none the worse for it. zoomer lift line was where it was at after everything was already tracked. ski through the bumps, ski around them... which ever, the snow was still plenty soft enough after lunch time.

and paulies, what can i say? i'm fond of saying it's either the best or worst trail on the mountain on any given day. there's never much in between is there? i guess i'm calling that my run of the day, as that's where i finally found my rhythm and made some SWEET ass turns.

i can't say i've ever skied knee-waiste deep powder before. actually, i'm usually a pretty crappy powder skier. but today, i feel in love! it was a lot of work, but damn that snow was sweet!

if cannon doesn't have everything skiable off the quad by next weekend, they're doing something wrong. there is just so much snow up there, it's unreal. pics to be posted before the tomorrow morning i hope!
