I just returned from a day trip to Catamount ski area. For anyone not familar with this place, the mountain straddles the New York, Massachusetts state line. It is possible to ski in two states in one day at the same mountain. This is a ski area with 1000' vertical drop and 29 trails. The conditions today were packed powder/ hardpacked with about 95% of the trails groomed at the start of the day. There is a double black diamond trail called Catapult that follows the fall line straight down from near the summit, it is claimed to be the toughest run in the Berkshire's.

Lift line's were about 5-15 minutes long and were mostly due to the old and slow double chairs that
service the mountain. A new summit lift such as a triple or quad would greatly enhance the ski day.
