Cutler the AVY Dog

Those of you familiar with our Tuckerman Ravine Snow Rangers probably have met Cutler the AVY dog.

Although he's usually wearing a "do not feed me" sign on his vest, it's always so tempting... I'll have to find some other way to get Cutler to remember me as dog's best friend.

Beacons, probes, and shovels are nice, but I'd want Cutler's eyes, ears, and nose looking for me if ever...

While all of us are preparing for ski season (you are doing those dry land workouts, aren't you?), Cutler has been training for winter, too. Here are a couple pictures from Cannon Mt. yesterday, 9/20/03, where the White Mountain Search and Rescue Working Group (NH Fish & Game, USFS, AVSAR, RMC, MRS, NEK9 SAR, AMC, SOLO, UVWRT, NH Parks, EMSCS, TMH, et al) held an inter-agency training with the NH State Police and NH Army National Guard helicopters used for search and rescue.

Cutler leading USFS Snow Ranger Chris Joosen into the National Guard's helicopter:

Cutler and Chris dis-embarking from the Black Hawk helicopter:

I apologize for the poor lighting and low res. It was a beautiful day in the mountains, with scattered clouds. This part of the exercise happened during one of the cloudier moments, and I reduced the rez to upload.
