Gah, NCP this weekend!!

we are currently experiencing a GLORIOUS early spring week in new england. in the hills, temps are going below freezing at night but then soaring into the 40s and 50s with blue bird skies all day. not a cloud in sight and barely any wind, wonderful! i look longingly out my window at the bare ground and brownish-green grass just dreaming of a skin up the tux or GoS trails before they bow out due to poor coverage.

sure enough, NCP moving in this weekend! almost guaranteed for saturday it looks like with a good chance of continuing through sunday. hopefully it won't be that bad, i don't mind a skin and a ski when there is a little mist or light precip, but i stay home during full on rain, no thanks!!

kinda bumming out on the weather but i guess it could have been worse without the nice long cold snap we finally had during march. this season is starting to slide away faster than i care to see it go!

i will be out this weekend one way or another. i may just burn a few freebies for a couple of hours when things are on the drier side. or i may venture a run at washington if things are warm enough and not too wet, though that prospect looks bleak. can't burn a vaca day for friday either, which promises to be a treat!

so plans for the weekend include likely trips to MRG and cannon to burn some freebies with an outside shot at something on big geroge on sunday, though the weather has me not feeling it. what is everyone else feeling for the weekend?

As planned...MRG on Saturday (rain or shine). However I'm not sure how many hours I'll ski if it's raining.

That sucks that you can't take friday off? Didn't you just say that you can always take days off with little or no notice 2 weeks, did you jinx yourself? I finally confinced my dad to go up tuckermans too. Were actaully going to try to summit mt. washington(I guess my dads mentallity is that if your going to go up there you mine as well go for it all) Looks like the perfect day for it though. :D

this coming friday is the last day of our fiscal year, not a particular day i can take off with or without notice. that would be your first time at tucks, right? i wouldn't set my sites so high on a first trip, just my opinion though. check out the latest trip report over on T4T for a summit trip that will raise your eyes!

Yeah this is my first tucks trip. I actually wanted to just go up and do Hillmans, but my dad wanted to try to get this summit. If he doesn't try to get the summit then he really doesn't want to go. Even though this is our first tucks trip my dad has done a lot of winter hiking before and a ton of difficult hikes in the summer(like a few month long backcountry trips out west) so I think we'll be okay.

Yup, a bunch of Hunter midweekers have been bragging...supposed to be in the mid-70's tomorrow. I'll be at Hunter on Sat, skiing rain or shine. I don't think the rain will be all that bad, so don't bum out over it or cancel plans if you're really up for them.

I'm not a big fan of the long range, but take a peek at the 15 day forecast for the MWV and remember my trip window of 4/10-14. Hopefully that will put a smile on your face.

word awf, good to hear he's got some experience. i wouldn't mind bagging washington from the top eventually, not even near the top of my prioriety list of stuff i'd like to do though. hillmans was my first run up there, definitely a good place to start and less traffic too which i enjoyed. downside is that it is the longest climb since it starts so much lower than the bowl runs proper, so you hike more. upside is that you have a great long run on hillmans then jump right onto the sherbie, especially nice when the lower headwall is toast and folks have to walk down from the bowl (wouldn't be surprised to see that begin this weekend).
