Gore article...

A pretty decent article actually. Many of the articles I've seen about Gore like this one from Ski Mag are filled with BS. The Times got some things right. Nice touch getting quotes from Jill Broderick, Dick Carlson etc in there.

Not sure if I agree that it's simply the lack of slopeside lodging that has "held Gore back."

150 annual inches of snowfall may have something to do with it. And the fact that the mountain wasn't nearly as much fun 10 - 15 years ago. There's more terrain now, much more tree skiing, better snowmaking...it's a better skiing experience for more kinds of skiers.

I think that is why slopeslide lodging finally got hammered through. With the improvements it may be worth it to pump 5 million (or whatever) into North Creek. It's years of commitment by Gov Pataki and others paying off.

*Full disclosure...I'd be much happier without the additional skier traffic. They're adding 15% more terrain next year and ultimately going to add much more skier traffic...but for Gore as a business...it should be a boon.
