Sunday was windy in the morning, tapering off in the afternoon. The slopes were fair on the bottom mountain, better on the North face, and icy up top. Fairview was the only truly icy slope on the lower mountain, it had about 2 inches of powder over a slopewide sheet of glare ice. This was resulting in some spectacular sliding falls. This slope is going to need a lot of snow to remedy it.
By end of day the slopes were definitely skiied off, and bumped up. Overall though, a pleasant day of skiing, nice temps and sunny.
Monday, different story. The mountain was completely empty, which was great. Flat light, and very gray. At the top of the gondola though, it was extremely windy. So windy that the top part of Foxlair was difficult to board down because the wind was basically holding you in place. On the cold side too (about 20 degrees at the top, but the windchill had to be insane) No possible way I was going to the top, and the wind was so stiff, that straying far from the gondola (as in, the other lifts) seemed crazy too. The snow was hard and windscraped in places, but not really icy, and some areas actually were catching the powder from the wind.
It started snowing about 1:30pm. The weather forecast for the area looks really good, so my fingers are crossed.
