My first ski experience at Gore was sunny and 60's. Amazing. The cover on the mountain was excellent but it was turning to slush quickly in spots with some bare spots showing. However, virtually everything was open and in good shape excepting natural trails, glades, and lift lines. The glades were skiable but with wet heavy stuff no fun.

We spent most of the day on the Straightbrook Quad and the Topridge Triple. The soft snow made all the blacks into steep blues. Favorite run of the day was Hawkeye / Double Barrel followed closely by Topridge. My son, the snowboarder liked Lower Steilhang best followed by Rumor and Lies. He said Lower Steilhang was bumped and narrow but very rewarding.

On a cold i*y day I can see Twister and Foxlair as being really fun runs. Twister would be a blast run fast. Complaints- lots of traversing- the North Quad is essentially worthless and Lower Cloud needs a rope tow its so flat.

Overall- I was very impressed with Gore. It will go on my list of places to return to- love to try it on a really good powder day. The Friday lift ticket was overpriced for late season at $47- Whiteface was only $38 or $35 if you bought from the hotel. But, a great day to end the season on.
