It was mid-winter conditions at Gore this weekend.

3-4" of new snow fell friday night and got pretty blown around. Trail surfaces were very firm and fast, and the new light snow helped a bit, but
got skied off of the steep slopes very quickly. Rumour and Lies both have treacherous headwalls, but with some nice snow below. You just have to
skitter down the solid glacier until you get to the nice snow. There was plenty of fresh snow in the woods and we delighted in the many secret
stashes. I got turned onto 3 new glades this weekend. The woods to the right of Lies was excellent. We did the Birch Bark Glade many times, as it had the best snow. KHS was another new one for me. We also found lots of fresh snow in the Straightbrook Glade. Upper and Lower Newtons were real good too. Lower Steilhang was an interesting glacial formation. I had fun on it, but it seriously was a bulletproof and of unusual form. Dropping into Lower Newton from there was definitely the thing to do. Sunday was much better than saturday, primarily because it was temperate and sunny.

New snow on tuesday will help.
