gotta love the cold

another great day of northern new england weather today. i was going to ride the lifts at jay , but since the temps without wind were -20 F , a x-country was more in order. even that was chilly at first. the top of the mountain was closed this morning with wind chills over -70 F. The weather just won't seem to cooperate at all. Either it's freezing rain or to cold to ski or snow. The last bit of snow we got was smoke. it didn't do a thing, It looked great , but after a few forays onto steep stuff, i realized that it just isn't ready yet. Anything low angle was fine, the only problem is that i am sick of low angle. i need some excitement . groomers and mellow woods just aren't cutting it.

oh well , nothing you can do but wait and hope.

looks like a few more inches of smoke on the way, which will do, but what is really needed is some heavy duty wet snow and a lot of it.

the woods are still scary , with snakes lurking everywhere. a solid two feet is still needed to bury the whips in most places for it to be good. maybe by febuary things things will improve.
