Got a late start, but had a good afternoon of skiing. Conditions were mostly carveable granular, though the snow report said "packed powder". Well, there was some packed powder in places and we found them and skied them. The main trails had some really firm eastern hard pack in the middle, but softer snow on the edges. Elysian feilds was sporting hard bumps that were skiable, though not by me on tele's. Today was a 'work-out' and 'refinement' day. I got a great work-out and my telemarking is coming along. I was challenged most of the day, and by the end I was good n tired.
They had all chair lifts open and maybe 70% of the terrain, which is most of the snowmaking areas. There was hardly a wait to get on the lift and we got a parking spot in the front row. Overall the conditions exceeded my expectations, and the crowds were non-existant.
Tmrw I'm going out to GP with a friend who is learning to snowboard. I may rent a board and join her for some thrills and spills. Stay tuned.
