I just recieved this email from Greek Peak. I find it amusing that they have used the words "first class" two times. It might have been first class 50 years ago, but today, well . First class is certainly relative

Very good use of  !

 Never knew 20+ year old lifts with paint flaking off and grease dripping was considered either "first class" or"premier" . Good for a chuckle though.

Speaking of which...anyone know how to get black grease off a yellow Goretex parka?

I'll have to ask my wife. I think it took 2 or 3 washings/treatments, but we finally got some Greek Peak grease off a white section on a jacket of mine (nice glob of it on the jacket 3 years ago during the holidays).

After talking to my wife I guess it was just pre-treatment stuff like spray & wash or those stick things they sell for pre-treatment that got out the grease. But it still took at least 2 washings of doing so (pre-treat, wash, let partially air dry, pre-treat & wash, etc...)

I think 20 years is being charitable to most of those lifts... they look much older to me.

Hadn't even thought about it really, but you're right. Newest lift is the triple - installed in 1979...

Unsure of the true age of 1A as it was bought used from Mtn Creek NJ and installed at GP ~6-7yrs ago, but surely not much newer in total age than the triple if at all....

The 'yellow chair' (long time, super old name for #2 back when that was the paint color) was partially reconstructed roughly about the time of 1A installation, but basically is from the early 1960's with it's erector set style towers... everything else is in between those dates...

Opening day lifts 50yrs ago were a t-bar (1A lift line but starting up just above the a-frames) and a rope tow (alpha slope); and only one of the two a-frames for a lodge (still has a plaque on the stone fireplace from the inauguration from the governor at the time).
