After riding out the New Years Nor'Easter in the HUB (total of 1 inch at my house), decided to meet a friend up at Gunstock this morning. Had never been there so we thought we'd give it a shot. Got there right at 9 and hopped on the Summit Triple. Alternated between Upper Gunsmoke/Gunpowder/Shotgun and Upper Ramrod/Middle Trigger most of the day and took a few runs on Cannonball. Conditons were really good--lot's of loose powder on top of groomed trails. Crowds were minimal all morning (hangovers anyone??), got a little more crowded after lunch. Looks like they got about 10 or so inches out of the latest storm. Was surprised at lack of unopen terrain. Were starting to blow snow on stuff they didnt have open toward the end of the day. Overall, awesome day. Gunstock is a great cruising mountain--certainly an intermediate's paradise.
