I was unfortunately too lazy to take pics although i had my camera, but the snow was pretty decent, opening was 10 AM & the sun did a good job of softening it up... it was just Hellgate that was open and then the runout towards the triple (to the skiers right of Hellgate)... a few spots with some bumps developed by midday, and the snow was soft enough lower down below Hellgate to get some big GS turns in. the quad was just for uploading/downloading purposes, since the furthest down you could ski was to the bottom of the triple (although they were blowing "snow" between there and the quad base most of the day, even when it was above freezing.... looks like they were desperate) Wasn't that crowded at all - a bit so but I was expecting much worse for Hunter... there were never any liftlines, and there was still ample room on the trail. I could barely keep skiing after like 10 runs, it's as if all that biking I did in the summer made no difference...

I was there at about 8:45...got my season pass and got dressed, halfway through putting my boots on they opened up. Couldn't have been later than 9:15! So, I got 2 runs in before 10am, met my buddy Karl, and proceeded to rip until 1pm. Ate lunch, felt great, put the skis back on at about 1:45, skiied 4 runs and felt ready to collapse. Day over at 3pm.

Great day, NO CROWDS AT ALL, good snow. Hardly bumped up at all, but a few decent lines could be found hard left on the corner of Hellgate and at mid-station. Last run we went top to bottom...Kennedy was really quite well covered and was open on Sunday.

And thus 05-06 begins (Finally!).

Oh... I didn't get there until like 10:30 and someone had told me opening was 10... it made me feel better about my horribly slow morning, but I guess I was misled. I liked the short section of bumps (if you even want to call it a section) on the extreme skiers left coming down the top part of hellgate (where its steeper than all the other sections).. but that was only like 9-10 turns long unfortunately.. I thought the bumps further down we're kind of widely spaced, I dabbled around there for a bit but I had a better time going for big GS turns to the right of that... I bet Hunter will be mobbed as hell this weekend though...

Don't be too sure...this weekend is the big start of the Christmas shopping season and many folks will be in the stores buying gifts. I'll be treating my family and myself to as many turns on snow as possible.
