Made it up to Hunter this morning after near 0 visibility in the dark on the Palisades Pkwy due to heavy snowfall, passed a whole bunch of carnage along the way (I think i counted 4 jackknifed trucks that slammed into the divider on the Thruway), then fought for dear life to maintain uphill momentum, to avoid completely losing traction and, at worst, perhaps the need to drive back down to a flat section and give it a second try, on my crappy "all season tires" on 23A (I've got no right to complain, it's my fault I've slacked on getting snow tires this season). But, I'm glad I went up today, because by the end of the day alot of the stuff was already skied off, and they sure as hell didnt get the 10 inches they were predicting... I'd give them 5-6 tops, but with the late afternoon winds, alot of it has been scoured off the wind prone slopes (i.e., everything at Hunter). The morning was awesome though, complete with fresh tracks in a few spots, and no lift lines.

...hey .....Hey .....HEY!! Very cool early season day 8) . But, Sven, always remember, that snow that gets scoured off of the wind prone slopes has gotta' wind up somewhere. Hint, hint, hint .....

Unfortunately, the woods were brown before this storm so anything that went in there is base building material, not skiable yet. There were a few areas that collect snow that were great on Sat AM, but if you didn't get to them by 9:30 that was all gone too.

Great weekend!
