It was a bluebird weekend here in the Empire State 4/12-13.

In the hills of central NY, they pushed around and rolled flat enough remaining snow to cover 4 trails at Greek Peak for some soft slushy skiing in the near 60 degree weather from noon-5 on saturday. It was a special treat end-of-season bash for the GP skiers since Greek Peak had closed 2 weeks ago when the rains started.

Saturday night, Thelma and Louise hit the road for a 30 hour road trip. Destination: Gore Mountain. First stop Glens Falls to hang with friends and sushi dinner.

Sunday, another bluebird day. We got up early and made the 40 minute cruise from Glens Falls to Gore Mountain, arriving at Gore before 9am.

First few runs were a bit firm still, but it didn't take long for the blazing sun to soften it up. We took a few runs on the lower mountain, lapping the gondola, and a few at Top Ridge until the snow began to soften. Then we headed up to the summit on the Straightbrook quad. Rumor, Lies, HawkEye and Chateimac were all beautiful soft explosive hero bumps of corn. The glades were closed. Not enough cover on natural trails, but all the trails with snowmaking were in excellent shape and kept us plenty entertained.

Spring fever got to Jeremy. Since he was skiing with the chicks, he decided to wear a bright blue Marge Simpson wig. He was feeling silly, and looked pretty silly as well. He wore beige clothes which blended into the color of the slightly dirty snow, so all you could see was this shiny, bright blue wig bobbing down the slope. It was quite a sight, and made a lot of people laugh and smile.

It wasn't quite bikini weather, but there were a couple of people wearing shorts. By the afternoon, my windbreaker was tied around my waist.

It was a perfect day of spring skiing.
