As I sit here and eat my bacon, egg burrito I am still high from the morning's powder pigout.
Mike R and I set out early and got on the very first tram with the early-birds.
The Face Chutes were open, so we went right for it, because I wasn't sure if I'd be riding the tram again this morning. I had never done them, so I really didn't know where to go. We went in and I got tree'd out and had to back up to head over to where it opened up. In doing so, I got my ski caught under a buried limb and almost got sucked into the tree well. Not the best start, but I got myself free and found the chute I wanted and it was deep and fluffy.
Mike and I got split up and I ended up coming down on the Bonnie side, so I dipped into Canyonlands.
Finished off with Expo Glades which was all fresh fluff.
Rode the Bonnie with a guy and his son from Syracuse. They wanted to go over to the other side and wanted to join me through Everglade, so we did it from the very top. One of my faves.
The snow was really deep in there. I was choking on the snow as I got face shots. Can you say thigh deep.
I met up with Mike again at the GMF and we went up and did BBP, and this was definitely the pick of the morning.
We were both coughing on face shots and giggling like children.
Next run was a North Glade. That thing really opens up for many fresh lines.
but we ended up paying for it with the low angle and thigh deep snow.
getting out was a bit of a slog, but well worth it.
Next run was over to Vertigo. We wanted to ski back to the condo for brunch, so this seemed like a good way to go, though it was very tracked out and very narrow. Definitely not great, but lower CanAm was sweet and I think that would have been a better choice from the top, though it was blowing at the top and visibility was an issue.
We are done with brunch and the sun is shining. Getting ready to head back out.
