Aside from the wind, absolutely sublime. My first time at Jay in over 35 years skiing New England. Where have I been? Great area with awesome conditions.
We arrived at 11am to howling wind that kept the tram and quad closed. Took Bonaventure up and hiked up to JFK. Amazing -- knee deep and DEEPER all the way down. Did it again, then the tram and quad were opened. endured the high winds up the Flyer and headed down Ullr's in waist deep on skiers left. Into the woods at Beaver Pond and it was like heaven on a bun.
Every trail - blue or black, and the glades were all in just terrific shape. There were some bare spots and wind polish, especially near the summit, but easily avoided. Skied right until closing, and it was still pow pow everywhere and still snowing.
However optimistic their reports were on line, they were spot on, or if anything, understated.
If I didn't have to head back home at the end of the day tomorrow, I would go back. Well worth the 4 hour round trip drive.
