One of the first public forum on a ski resort website was shutdown yesterday has Jay Peak updated there new website. Jay Peak has always been a leader in web design and were amongst the first to include ski report with daily pics as early as 1997-98. They open their message board soon after.

It was the first board i ever signed on... Guess where i got my name! It followed me everywhere there...

Too bad they closed it... it was useless but still... Steve Wright was alway lurking around and you were able to ask him anything on there... Now it feels like Jay lost it's "contact" with the real world by having a very ordinairy website... just like everyone else!

i actually didn't even know they had a forum on the jay site and i have visited their site often. even without a forum, i have found jay to be very responsive to customer feedback and quick to answer direct questions. i offered a response to their end of season feedback request and got a candid response back (i beleive from mr. wright himself) thanking me for my input and acknowledging what they needed to work on. steve also answered an inquirying of mine over the summer and was very helpful. going into my second year as a jay skier, i have been really happy with the level of service jay's team provides. the loss of a forum seems like no surprise, not many ski areas have official forums any more, and i am cool with that (then again, i never participated in any official ski area forums!). i know they just flipped the switch on the new web site, but it was buggy last time i checked and most links seemed to redirect me to the main page. hopefully they clean up the bugs quickly, i look forward to their finished product.

yes.. It's a shame they didn't see the value in it enough to keep it. Guess we'll be spending more time on liftlines ! I'll ask Rob about it when i see him though.

A little cross posting here. I asked Steve about it in the Jay alpinezone challenge. He said the board will be back on line.
