First of all, keep in mind that I was indeed born yesterday (though not this morning)......
So, I woke up very early Saturday morning and hustled up to Jay Peak, hoping to make my 2 turns of the year - 1st was Thanksgiving if you can call 'em turns - AND catch this forecasted "dump" of 2-4" or what remeoR forecasted as 4-10".
Coming up over the hydrological divide between St. J' and Newport which is als the highest point on I-91 at roughly 1860 feet, I found rain .....uh-oh. Arriving at the Tram base, I found light showers with a few flakes here 'n there. Oh merde! Desperate, I bit to the tune of $45, anyway. What I did not realize was that Northway nor any other connection from Tram side to State Side was not open. Up the Flyer I went and found a snowmaking route down to River Quai to the base. It sleeted for a while with a few flakes and that was about it for "snow". I made it to State Side via shuttle provided by Jay and had a run down Jet and Haynes which were both standard issue groomed granular snowmaking trails.
There was a connection to Tram Side from State Side, however. As they day wore on, the freezing level dropped and a choke point got to be a little too rough for me above Expo Glade, so I took some Bloodshed-like runs off of the Metro Quad to get some miles under me which were enjoyable.
Ummm, these are indeed tough times.
