Jay Peak VT 3/24 & 25

Jay has a lot of snow and the amount can't be easily described with common measurements. Trail signes were buried in snow, in some places completely covered. Landmarks and references were obscured by the snow depth making older navigational points obsolete. Parking was at a premium and cars were parked all the way out at Rt 242!

The wire on power line is a head knocker (no really). The drop into upper Milk Run isn't much of a drop because the bowl is so full of snow. Formally spacious glades lack head room in places. Deep powder bumps are everywhere as are screams of delight.

Saturday was great and Sunday was better because it was sunny all day nd visibility was improved. The temperatures stayed below freezing so the snow is still light and powdery.

Despite the parking issues the slopes with a couple of exceptions didn't seem crowded. There were big lines for the tram, jet and bonadventure but not on the flyer (freezer). Sunday's breeze may have kept the line short on the flyer, but there was plenty of powder for all.

Get up there soon as this can't last for ever.
