Another Bluebird day. Grooming crew did a marvelous job. Great day for cruising. Lots of Canadian kids, much to my suprise - college I suppose. Trails all had excellent (for this year), hardpack coverage. Grooming team does an awesome job this year, but much of the loose stuff gets scraped off by early afternoon. Look for the sunny spots in the afternoon for the stuff loosened up by the sun.
Most trails were groomed pretty flat, including the black diamonds (you can be a hero..) Not a lot of bumps. Nice terrain park. Lots of room in the lodge all day - everyone was out skiing!
1st time there in 23 years. Love the european-flavor lodge and the quirky, sometimes rambling, winding trails, an adventure at every turn. Absolutely gorgeous vistas (bring your camera) - no clouds in sight
good-news-bad-news situtation...) No wind at all -that's a first.
With cold nights and warm days, expect to find scratchy stuff - make sure your edges are SHARP.
Trails were all FAST as were most of the skiers.
Not only do we need to pray for snow, but we need to pray for cold temps. JP was nearly 40F by midday. Not a temp I care to see in Feb. We have to start a snow preservation society here. Ski Mountains have rights too!
The absolutely only good thing about this weather is that the roads are entirely safe and navigable. I can't remember the last time in winter I've seen so much dry pavement.
Trails were better on the main mt. than on Jet accessible side. Hardly anyone in the glades -those that were in there were great!
Get while the gettin's good. Jay was great!
