All I can say is W O W !

4 bluebird days with incredible visibility. Mt. Washington and the Presidential Range, Lake Champlain, Mt. Mansfield, Burke Mt. and the Adirondacks in plain sight. Spectacular.

The conditions were amazing. Top to bottom packed powder on the groomers, ice-free moguls (except a bit on Can Am, Upper River Quai, etc.) with loose powder and packed powder in the glades.

Jay says that this weekend could be their best Easter weekend in history.

The only down side was my broken Rossi RPM 100 in Timbuktu. I dropped into a deep rut and it snapped just in front of the binding. :(

I'm going to try to attach a couple pictures.

Have a great spring everyone!!

Rich

Very nice! As Renson says, "These are the best of times," both East and West. That doesn't seem to happen very often. (Except for those poor folks in the PNW, that is!)

Monday and Tuesday were "the best of times" for Whistler this season. When I do the FTO feature later nobody will believe the pics are from the 2004-05 season. No question it was ugly before last week, but there was a base in the alpine, and thus plenty to ski when it finally dumped. Mt. Bachelor is similarly OK: about half as much new snow but a deeper base than Whistler.

In between the PNW is still suffering. Mt. Baker and Hood Meadows were the only previously closed areas that reopened, only 50% in Hood's case.

Schweitzer and Red Mt. remain closed. Silver and Big Mountain close tomorrow. Schweitzer opened a couple of lifts for the NASJA annual meeting attendees only March 18-19. I had cancelled out but it did snow 17 inches those 2 days so those in attendance got some fresh tracks even there!
