My last day at Jay was on May 3rd. I had plans in the afternoon in Bromont (Mountain Bike advocacy party and movie premiere of "Seasons") so i could only be around until noon... I made 6-7 runs all over stateside but did not get my fix because it rained and it was pretty cold for early May...
So weeks go by and i drive by and see Jay in the distance with still 2 white runs... But the biking season is long started... and my boards are hung up for the season... But sunday afternoon while driving back from the Kindgom Trails, i see Jay in the distance... and the place seems to be calling me!
I wake up monday morning... a bit sunny... then cloudy... and cool... 45F... Ouch! It rained overnight... so no biking today... my girlfriend has to work... but i don't... Don't feel like doing trail maintenance... and the mountain is calling...
Drop in the parking lot at just about 10AM... windy... hmmm... Things look good, i put on my camelbak and head up the mountain with nothing more then a board and my helmet... I don't usually wear one... but i needed music to climb in those mucky conditions!
As i got up to heaven's road, it started fr***** snowing! On MAY 19th! Damn!In all, I did 2 runs... The Haynes had perfect cover all the way to Mont L'intrepide so i did maybe 3/4 of it... i was really hopping the Jet to have a more vertical to ride... so i walked over to find lots of bare spots but i was able to make it down to the cut-off to lower kitz to exit to stateside lodge...
After grabbing a sandwich and coffee from the country store, i was back home at noon... Custom's agent couldn't believe i went snowboarding! She looked at me kind of weird... Was she completely wrong?
Here are the pics:
That's right: SNOW!
Have a good summer!
