One word: ice. Not porcelain -- that would be too kind. We're talking slush from the day that rapidly froze solidly into place. We're talking patches of grey ice from the recent adverse weather. We're talking stuff that the skis left no footprint in. Just plain ol' slick.

I went over to Jiminy last night to try out my new pair of Salomon Scream 10 Hots (see my ski review here). Despite their $15 8-hour Twilight Ticket e-coupon last night, the place was deserted thanks to the fact that the school groups are over for the season. Thanks to the conditions I was the only person carving arcs down Whitetail, their steepest illuminated run. Cover on anything without snowmaking is only a couple of inches deep and therefore closed in most locations. The base on the snowmaking runs is more than ample, but again the issue is quality, not quantity.

"Dear Mother and Father:

Having fun at Camp Jiminy. Please send new snow.

Love,
Camper Marc"

(Looks like we'll get our wish tonight. Too bad only 1 to 3" of the 12"+ storm total will fall by sunset, or I'd go over to Jiminy again tonight. Only 1" to 3" will make for dust on crust, but tomorrow should be divine. Damned work!)
