Keystone 3/1-3/2

I haven't been out to Keystone in about 4 years, but have logged quite a few days there in the past. I know it has not been a good snow season, but I was still very suprised at how many rocks and tree branches I uncovered in certain areas. This was especially common just off trail or in tree runs. Normally I wouldn't give a second thought to heading into the trees but I became very conscious of the damage I was doing to my skis. And this was after they had been receiving some fairly decent snow. My cousin, from Denver, said the conditions were great compared to what they were just 2 weeks ago. We did find some fairly deep snow still left untouched in many places, like the Windows and in the Outback if you know where to look. Actually stopped to help a snowboarder who had fallen and was burying himself trying to get back up.

I had intended to ski 3 days with some friends and family, but I got leveled by a really bad cold after the second day and couldn't make it out for our third day. They said the crowds were pretty bad since it was a Saturday, and finally had some good snow.

So if you're heading out on Spring Break soon, at least it's pretty close to 100% open now.
