sat was bluebelle. started out a bit windy & cold but warmed up nicely. crowds were a non-issue. supe lift was on hold first thing so took the k1 to get over to bear. groomed was the order of the weekend except on the nats. ol was nice (and groomed) but not epic like it must have been the previous weekend. best was dreamaker which was like a fun park with all sorts of whales & unusual snow sculptures (upper)on the new manmade (styrofoam). wildfire & vertigo had some fresh but you had to hug the bumps on the treeline to get it. if you strayed anywhere else it was hard ice bumps. nothing sweet about bittersweet. very icey. best bump line of the weekend was middle ovation. lower ovation just developing bumps on windblown styrofoam. they had blown the kheadwall so that was nice. escapade was still mostly good. for trees the light, dipper & pp also still good. vagabond also. breakaway may have been the best run of the day as the south fridge was surprisingly pleasant. west glade nice but had 2 nasty spots. nothing spectacular but good day. <BR> <BR>sunday maybe an inch new but the the killington cloud had moved in. felt a bit colder & windier. also a bit more crowded though still not bad. most of the nats seemed icier. amongst the trees we did, toilet bowl had more exposure than i cared for, light good but we really need some snow at this point. lower ovation developing more bumps. bittersweet a horror show. run of the day was upper/middle vertigo which was in the guns. headwall was awesome. snow wet & heavy but made us very happy nonetheless. trail was 'reserved' but interestingly had more traffic than many of the open trails though we did have the fortune to catch it by ourselves a few times. pretty much did laps on it most of the afternoon. lower vert however did not have snowmaking and was getting pretty nasty (rocks & ice bumps). also blowing t-to-b on panic/needles which really needed it. the blowback was starting to cover the liftline. all in all, turned out to be a good weekend (but thank god for vertigo on sunday).
