Watched the Intellicast all day/night yesterday and could see the blue/snow over central VT for most of that time. This morning the Kmart report said 4-5" new. "Damn the luck, can't go", I tell myself, "Why did it have to come when I've got so much stuff to do to prepare for this upcoming stretch of work?"...

...and I'm still telling myself this 2 hours later as I pull into the Kmart parking lot. There was indeed an honest 5" new, even a little more in spots, and fairly powdery to boot! I got there far too late for obvious first tracks (must've been sweet) but I managed to root out some freshies nonetheless through the usual 'thinking outside the box'. The trees were great where the new fluff had fallen on remaining base, a bit trickier where it covered only flora and fauna (but the slightly different surface textures were fairly easy to read). The steeper sections of Superstar had scraped pretty quickly, leaving a mix of boilerplate and pillows of powder that you needed to land squarely on! The flatter middle section was a little more homogenized with plenty of packed/tracked powder turns. The center line had been groomed recently but bumps were forming anew. In all a very nice and unexpected treat so late in the season. OK, now I really gotta get to work...

CD- At work, we checked the K report and hoped this will help stretch the season a little longer. We all knew there is no chance any of the new snow will still be there come Saturday - glad you could take advantage of it. Also checked Jay and Bretton Woods websites, which we thought were still open, but alas, I think Kmart is the last remaining lift-serviced option in NH-VT.
